Sculptural bench, Cubbon Park

For Cubbon Park, we worked to create an Earth Bench in collaboration with the Horticulture Department of Bangalore.

Cubbon Park is a landmark garden in the city of Bangalore in Karnataka. Spread out over 300 acres, it is frequented by tourists and locals alike. On sunny days and weekends, the bench is usually occupied by people conducting meetings, enjoying picnics, taking naps, and children playing.

We drew inspiration from the park, opting for an organic form which would be in tune with the park. Made with materials sourced from the park itself, the sculptural bench serves as seating for visitors.

Adobe bricks used to make the bench were crafted with mud from Cubbon Park. Rocks were used as a foundation, with glass bottles as embellishments.
