Meghshala Office Garden
Meghshala Charitable Trust is a not-for-profit organisation based in Bangalore, which works to use technology to provide tools and resources for teachers. Their work is geared towards improving the quality of education in government schools across Karnataka.
Barefoot Designs worked on designing a creative outdoor space for the Meghshala team. We crafted and planted permaculture garden beds with herbs, fruits, and vegetables in the once barren landscape. An Earth Bench was built to flow organically around the garden beds, accompanied by furniture made from tree branches. We built a pergola using casuarina poles with a young butterfruit tree planted next to it.
For this project, we used recycled materials found in and around the space, like used and broken floor tiles, rocks and stones from a dumping ground, fallen tree branches, and coloured glass bottles.

The space serves as an outdoor seating area for the Meghshala team, where they can hold meetings and discussions, as well as relax during their breaks.
